The CoServ Charitable Foundation, responding to an emergency request for assistance from the Sanger Chamber of Commerce, has made a $500 donation to support the seasonal and holiday food needs of the Sanger Crisis Center and Bargain Depot.
“The Crisis Center provides food, clothing and assistance to so many in the Sanger area.” states Jeanelle Reese, chamber administrator. “With the rising costs and slow economy, the Crisis Center has been depleted of perishable food items.” The Crisis Center is located in the old Church of Christ building at 100 North 5th Street in Sanger. Donations can be made by contacting Kem Green at (940) 206-1385. The Crisis Center is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from noon till 4 p.m. for clients’ needs, but they accept donations every weekday.
The CoServ Charitable Foundation is funded by the Operation Roundup® program that “rounds up” CoServ members’ and customers’ bills to the nearest dollar. CoServ employees contribute through payroll deduction. The average yearly donation is $6 (or 50 cents a month), and the pennies generated save lives, keep families together, catch criminals, and provide meals. To date, the Foundation generated more than $1.6 million to worthy causes in the CoServ service area as a result of generous Operation Roundup® donations.
All administrative costs associated with Operation Roundup® are covered by outside fundraisers. This allows us to locally donate 100 percent of Operation Roundup® funds to help create jobs, reduce crime, curb hunger, further education, improve healthcare, provide financial assistance, and offer hope to families. Thanks to CoServ members’, customers’, and employees’ generosity, needy families in our service area will be able to enjoy a holiday meal from the Crisis Center and Bargain Depot.
