CCF donates funds to Lucas Fire-Rescue

The CoServ Charitable Foundation recently provided a $19,860 grant supporting the purchase of an all-terrain vehicle and other equipment for the Lucas Fire-Rescue Department.

CoServ Charitable Foundation Executive Director Dennis Engelke stated, “Much of CoServ Electric’s roots are grounded in our rural and wildland areas of our cooperative’s service area. Supporting first responders’ ability to provide emergency services in hard to reach areas is a priority for the CoServ Charitable Foundation, and we are proud to donate funds generated by our members, customers, and employee contributions to such a worthy cause. Minutes are precious in the lifesaving business, and decreasing response time in fire and rescue missions is critical.” Lucas Fire Chief Jim Kitchens advised that the equipment purchased with the grant will also support fire and rescue initiatives in the Wylie, Branch, Murphy, Allen, Plano, and other areas of Collin County as requested.

Since its inception in 2004, the CoServ Charitable Foundation has supported 150 projects for 100 organizations in 38 communities with a total of $2,129,245.46 of our members', customers' and employees’ generous donations. The Lucas Fire and Rescue Department grant is just one example of how Operation Roundup® dollars are used to support community initiatives.  Through this initiative, participating members’ and customers’ monthly CoServ bills are rounded up to the nearest dollar, and every penny of the extra change is donated to the community. CoServ employees also support the fund through voluntary payroll deduction.
