Grant helps Little Elm Fire Department buy all-terrain vehicle

A $25,000 grant from the CoServ Charitable Foundation will help the Little Elm Fire Department buy an all-terrain vehicle and trailer. Joseph Florentino, Little Elm fire chief, says, “Our town has 23 miles of shoreline on Lewisville Lake. The rough terrain makes it difficult to access many parts of the shoreline.” That’s why the fire department will use the CoServ grant to buy an all-terrain vehicle, which will be equipped with a 150-gallon water tank, pump and hoses. This will allow emergency services in areas of the community that would otherwise be isolated. Jody Gonzales, director of Denton County Department of Emergency Services, says, “This new equipment will assist more than just the residents of Little Elm. All fire departments in Denton County and Collin County will benefit from the vehicle and trailer when Little Elm helps them during emergencies.” Dennis Engelke, a Grants Committee member of the CoServ Charitable Foundation, says, “We are living in a time when the resources of our fire departments are being strained. At the same time, the demand for their services is increasing. It is a pleasure to present this grant to such a necessary cause.”
